Indo-Russian PAK-FA Will Hit the Skies in 2012

TIMESOFINDIA (oct 30 2007) The Indo-Russian fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGA) will make its maiden flight by 2012, according to a top Russian Air Force official.

India and Russia signed an inter-governmental agreement earlier this month to jointly develop and produce the futuristic multi-role stealth fighter on the basis of Sukhoi Corporation’s super secret PAK-FA project.

“The deadlines have been set – it must take to the skies in 2012 and enter service in 2015,” Russian vice Air Chief Lt Gen Igor Sadofyev was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

Commenting on the FGA agreement signed on October 18 in the presence of visiting Defence Minister A K Antony, Gen Sadofyev said that the bilateral cooperation on the project would significantly boost the development of fighter capable of taking on the US-British Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) F-35.

“International cooperation and joint development efforts will certainly expedite the process. It’s a path the whole world is taking now a days, and we are no exception,” Gen Sadofyev said.

Russia, India, China & Islam alliance is Super Super Power.

  3. Ankit Sharma Says:

I don’ t see any such alliance in near future , until China which is very stubborn in its attitude mellows and corners/dumps Pakistan there is no such balancing possible.

Niether China nor Russia can be even to US ever if they are alone , only BRIC nations can be a pausible answer.

I hate to be a cynic but these constant reports on the PAK-FA have always looked fishy to me. The dates they give seem insanly optimistic.

Let’s be pragmatic for a moment (put the ego & chest thumping on pause for a sec):
The USA has almost 40 years experience building stealth fighters w/ multiple advanced systems, they have access to the best minds in the world (because they can pay them the most, if I’m a gifted Russian, I would take a contract with Raytheon before I sign w/ Sukhoi for 1/3 salary!), they have the well-funded X-plane program used to test & refine emerging technologies and they have an infrastructure & economy unrivaled in the world.

They have nearly 40 years of “lessons learned” in design, development, manufacturing & testing of stealth fighters having “taken-their-lumps” on the F117, B2, Several X planes, & YF2x programs.

Furthermore, they have access to the largest pool of combat experienced pilots (“end-users”) – inc. Americans from Gulf-War I, Libya, Vietnam; Israelis etc.

EVEN WITH ALL OF THIS IT TOOK THEM PLENTY OF TIME & MONEY TO DEVELOP THE F22; far more than what the Soviets are suggesting they can complete the PAKFA with…

They may do it, but it just all looks too optimistic…

i agree with “winglessblog”……the whole deal has the feel of a blockbuster hollywood product rather than anything realistic.

  8. Jagdish Says:

Ok lets say that US has a better technology then any one else. So who did they fight with 3rd world? Do all these countries had the leading technology, No. So lets think that there was a combat match with Russia or China then what. Fighting with countries that cannot do a great deal of damage is not bravery.
I believe in Indian Scientists and the decision makers, they are way to ahead from what common man thinks. And if u see the articles on this website we are already working with US to get new plains and also with Russia, so we have ‘Pacho unglia ghee me’
    Way to go IAF.

  9. John Smith Says:

Winglessblog, you are fucking retarted. “what the Soviets are suggesting…” Dude, Soviet Union broke up in 1991, time for you to be realistic. And guess what, they used F-15 as the base for developement for F22 and F35, and guess which aircraft served as the base for developement of F-15. MiG-25, a Russian built fighter/interceptor. Russians have plenty of experience in stealth technology, and Indians have plenty of resources to be used for research. It will happen dude, you’ll see.

  10. NJS Says:

Russia is all whether friend of india it is possible for 100 % TOT on russian products , but for USA weapons it is not at all possible for 100 % TOT , because usa will not transfer its full tech’s to other countries & it has some problems in enduser agreement also.
so its best to buy products without full tot from usa. both the countries usa / russian have high tech in all aspects , so it’s no meaning to downgrade any country .
